I have been here two or three times and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the handmade seafood noodle soup which they are very generous with (both seafood and the big amount of noodles! :)). My bf enjoys their black garlic soup (black garlic was very delicious and the soup was very rich). We also have tried the chicken wings and I thought they were only ok.

Came here twice recently and I have to say that the chicken noodle soup is legit, but the chicken was horrible! The fried chicken breast as dried and over cooked...boooo..

Has been searching for Korean Chicken soup place for a while and thru' Yelper, I finally found this place hidden in a corner of a strip mall with a name that seriously would not attract me to eat there if not for Yelp. We had Ginseng Chicken soup, Hukmanul, and fried chicken. Both Ginseng chicken and Hunmanul are very tasty and the chicken is so tender. Of both, I love the Hunmanul better because of the black garlic in it. If you like lighter soup, then go for the ginseng chicken soup. The fried chicken is nice and juicy. (more than Japanese Chicken Katsu). Their Kimchee and pickled radish comes in 2 big jar and they are well preserved and the spice are just nice. Their service is very good and attentive even though she speaks with a strong Korean accent. Will come back again to try to Honsam Chicken soup and Dulgge Samgyetang and probably other noodle soup as well. Thanks again to fellow yelpers for recommending this place !!

Food was very good. Go there if you like traditional Korean chicken stew/soup. The spicy chicken stew is quite good for two people to share. Order in advance because it will take 30 minutes to make. Service was good too.

Thank you yelp, I would have never found this place otherwise. Let me make this a true yelp review. Came here with the gf lol, twice in a week, it's that good! First time shared the original samgyetang and black garlic samgyetang, and an order of fried chicken between 3 people. Both the original samgyetang and black garlic version are delicious. However I think, you should stick with eating one or the other. The flavor of the black garlic is strong and so the original one won't taste as much after eating the former. Whatever. The fried chicken isn't very good (sorry!) skip it. Second time came back for the dak doritang and shared with one other. This dish is amazing! Chicken, carrots, onions, green onions, potatoes. I had to call up the guy I went with the first time to apologize for not bringing him the second time because I felt so bad. Anyway, my bad because it's way too big for two people. Share it with four total, then it will be enough. I had leftovers for two days. The kimchi and ggakdugi here are one of the best I've ever had, and I've had a lot. Final note, some other reviewers are ripping on the waitress here. She's fantastic! Maybe a little forgetful but give her a break! She's waiting all the tables by herself and always apologizes when she forgets to bring things. Been here 5-6x now

I ordered the black garlic samgaetang. since this place seemed to specialize in samgaetang, i've decided to jump head in and try it. i've never tried this dish with blac garlic before. it was delicious! the chicken fell off the bone, and the dish came out pretty quickly. for one server, it was pretty efficient. yes, it's a bit expensive - $18.99 - but it's actually cheaper than seoul jung at lawrence plaza. since they specialize in samgaetang, i will definitely return to eat this dish when i have a craving.

Dak Doritang was super spicy. Chicken was tender but I wished they gave more chicken and added sweet potatoes in their stew. The lady forgot to give us rice and when she remembered (a third way into the meal), she apologized and while giving us the rice, she said if we came again, she would serve us better. Ok....that is stupid. How would she remember us? Who says that? You have to satisfy the customers NOW...not next time!! Why can't you just give us free sodas on the house or a coupon for the next meal? I better get my rice next time! Forgetting to serve rice to Koreans is like serving sandwiches to Americans without the bread. It's just wrong. P.S. I went again to try Samgyetang and it is super legit. Great broth a good mix of healthy ingredients. I almost got mad that they forgot my rice again...and then I realized that they stuff the rice inside the chicken for this dish....=)

I originally came here by mistake thinking it was Bonchon Chicken. Big fat fail :( I ordered the fried chicken and it was a bit expensive and just ok. That's because I thought it was Bonchon haha. I was wondering why no one else ordered that and had some samgyetang in front of them.. 2ND visit I had to try the samgyetang(chicken soup). This comes out boiling hot with a whole chicken inside. They put all sorts of junk inside of it like rice,ginseng,dates...etc. It's full of yummyness. It's the exact thing you need to eat on a cold and rainy day. You will warm up instantly and you feel like a million bucks. This place would have gotten higher but I feel that 15 dollars for chicken soup is a bit steep. I totally understand that they put a WHOLE chicken inside the soup, but I am just not used to paying that much for chicken soup. It has officially been added to my winter lunch rotation....

When I came here with my aunt and mom for the first time, I was very impressed by their generous portion. I'm usually a big eater, but I had a hard time finishing my dish. I ordered the Dak Kalguksu (chicken noodle soup dish). This was pretty good and they gave a generous amount of chicken too. My mom and aunt ordered the Haemul Kalguksu and they too thoroughly enjoyed their dish. They were also given a generous amount of seafood in their dish as well. Definitely a good place to go to to get your kalguksu fix.

Came here with my dad a couple days after it opened.. I've been meaning to write a review but since it's under "BN Chicken" I couldn't find it! Don't remember what I ordered (my dad ordered for me) but it was tasty and came out pretty quickly! There was a ginseng inside of the chicken, and I gave it to my dad hehe. I'm not a big fan of ginseng.. The service was nice and friendly, and from what I remember, it was pretty quiet.. but then that might be because of that fact that it was opened for a few days.. I'm not a super big fan of chicken, but I'd definitely come back with my friends and have them try it, too. :) 5 stars for service! 4 stars for food, but I'm sure my dad would give it 5, so 4.5 stars rounded up to 5! :))

no way to find this place on yelp easily. BN chicken is what you see from the sign. still has the grand opening sign kimchi in the fermenting pot with the lid I shared the Dak Doritang; it was very spicy and served in the pot it was cooked in. says for 2 but more like at least 3, broccoli potatoes, etc. like down home Korea cooking. fried chicken (breast) more like donkatsu (fries and salad), but a little dry

Overrated at its best. Sorry to say a lot of Koreans don't know their own food and I'm Korean. At the end of the day. It's overpriced for cheap albeit decently prepared food. Plenty of other places to check out besides this place. Prepare to wait a long time for service as well.

The Samgyetang (Ginseng chicken soup) here is comparable to one of the famous Samgyetang restaurant in Soul. The hen used is very tend and the soup is very flavorful and soul warming. If you believe chicken soup will heal your sickness, this soup can probably heal cancer (ok that's exaggerated, I know). It's a clean and cozy place. Waitress was attentive. Menu is simple and com'on you don't need a lengthy menu for a specialized restaurant. Actually smaller menu = quality. One downside and problem I see is the sign has no English... I wish the owner understands that Californians are open minded and willing to try different foods so it helps them to put out a English name for the restaurant. Can't wait to go back for the Shiso seeds and black garlic next time. Other menus seem to get good reviews, too. Please keep up the good work!

BN Chicken like neighborhood restaurants in Korea specializes in just a few items. Their menu consists of soups (samgyetang, kalguksu, naengmyeon), fried chicken and spicy chicken stew. This is the place to go in the South Bay for Samgyetang (chicken/ginseng/rice soup). The flavor is very authentic and is the first place I've seen sround here that offers different versions (plain, wild sesame, black garlic). The chicken is stuffed with a larger range of goodies than at other places: chestnut, jujube, melon seeds, ginseng, ginko, pine nuts. The broth is very tasty and I always scrape the bowl clean. The mul naengmyeon (cold soupy noodles) at this place is also excellent. Kunjip used to be my favorite but now BN is. The toppings include Korean pear (instead of a substitute like watermelon) and strips of a meat jeon (batter-dipped meat). The broth is nicely seasoned and better than the competition. However, if you are of the school that likes a bland broth and like to adjust it with vinegar and mustard, this may be too flavorful. They also serve 2 versions of knife-cut noodles (kalguksu): chicken and seafood. They are both excellent and the seafood version has large chunks of crab and clams. The broth is very slightly peppery and very nicely balanced. The panchan consists of spicy kimchi and kkakdugi, both of which are very good. If you order samgyetang, it also comes with pickled chillies, onions and ginger and a small bowl of water kimchi. At night, they serve a spicy chicken stew that I have yet to try but I really want to. The people in charge are super-nice and sometimes give my daughter some treats to munch on.

I tried almost everything on the menu and my favorite is black garlic samgaetang. I really love it! Not everyone likes it but it up to my standard. When I'm down on weather. I will crave for these chicken soup. It was soothing and delicious and went down very smooth.

sam gye tang : 3.5 stars. decent. why so many sunflower seeds instead of pine nuts? dak dori tang : 2.5 stars. sauce tastes ok. but chicken itself is pretty tough to chew. service : 1 star. complete abandonment after our food had been served. note: they charge for extra bowl of rice.

Hey, Yelpers. Wanna try authentic home made Korean food ? This is the place to enjoy 100% home made chicken meal and other entrees Korean enjoy at home. They don't add any artificial ingredients like MSG. On top of that, Samgyetang and other dishes actually have healthy ingredient including Korean ginseng, chestnuts, etc. You want to eat out something delicious, authentic, and at the same time healthy food ? Check out this place.

The service is so bad from the hostess/waitress don't even bother... she is so rude! You should change your waitress! We were seated and changed our sits to another one and worst across the restroom! Because she said there might be a group of 4 so she transfered us to another table for 4 still but at the back most table on a tight hallway in fron of the bathroom! Argh! Never to go back! Worst Korean!

Was a little nervous about trying this place, but check the other restaurants and most of them were nearly empty at 5:30 p.m. on a Sunday so thought I'd give it a try on the basis of the other review. (The fact that the other reviewer had over 100 reviews helped on the credibility front. Had the reviewer only had a few reviews, I would have gone to Sui Tofu instead.) I was even more nervous when my entree came out with the panchan within 3 minutes. I needn't have been. The samgyaetang (herbal chicken stew with rice in the soup) was delicious and very filling. This stuff was seriously tasty. Just so you know, it's not spicy (well, it was a little but that's 'cause I, in a major white person display of Korean restaurant ignorance, put some chilis in the soup instead of eating it whole). The panchan (daikon and kimchi, similar to Seoul Gom Tang) was also quite good, and I'm not normally a fan of kimchi, but don't come here expecting 20 varieties of panchan or even 6. I would definitely return here to have the samgyaetang again or to try the dak doritang chicken stew with veggies. I'd give the samgyaetang itself a 5. Service is friendly. Please note that the dishes listed by the previous poster is virtually the whole menu. Yes, there are about 6 chicken soups listed, fried chicken, and 1 seafood soup. That's it. If you're vegetarian, forget this place exists. If you hate chicken, you'd better like the seafood (haemul) dish. Probably good for one group at a time, 8 max. Range is on the low end of moderate. All entrees $10-19. (There's one dish that's $26 but it's for two.)

For Chicken soup, I will give this place a 5 star. It is impressive to taste such a good soup; stock, chicken meat, sweet rice, and many flavoring garnishes such as garlic, gingseng root, fig, etc. inside. Menu list is short but good. I recommended this chicken (soup and fried chicken) place to my friends. This is not an elegant event night out place nor large group gathering place, but a great casual home cooked feel meal place.

i just came here earlier today for dinner with a friend of mine. i've been wanting to try this place ever since i found out about them specializing in sam gye tang. so of course excited me, thats what i ordered!^^ when we first walk through the door we felt the heat.. i dont think they have air conditioning in that place.. they tried to cool down the place by standing fans but it was just blowing hot air, and at the same time blowing the smell of yummy food! the place itself is very small just like its menu. the workerers there are pretty nice expecially one in particular but i didnt catch her name. she knew that it was our first time there so she always swung by and see if were were doing ok. and she looks like she genuinely cares (hard to come by nowadays). so i ordered the regular sam gye tang and my friend ordered the black garlic sam gye tang, and we both agreed that the regular sam gye tang tastes better but they were both pretty good, but i dont think its the best sam gye tang i've tasted. their chicken is very tender stuffed with glutinous rice , ginseng ,jujubees, and chestnuts, and some other little seends that kinda annoyed me while i was eating the soup. this soup is suppose to be very healthy for you so if you feel a little under the weather.... this soup is great. the only problems i have with this is they didnt stuff the chicken with garlic so it didnt have that garlic-y flavor... also it wasnt ginseng-y enough either but besides that its still good enough for me to come back. the kimchi came in jars so you can help yourselves. i always get excited when i see kimchi served that way.. ^^ feel like choosing candy at the store! but sadly, the kimchi was very bland and not good at all. so overall i give this place 4 stars for the service and becuase not that many restaurants serve sam gye tang, and it was pretty good.

This was pretty good. I didn't really try anything except the chicken, but the chicken got the job done. We ended up coming here because 99 chicken was closed on a Monday. Obviously, we were in the mood for chicken. The portion for the chicken order was a pretty good deal, you get a LOT. Comes with a nice sauce on the side and a cole slaw type side. Also loved the free picked appetizer it came with. Rice was $1 extra. I don't think it's as great as 99, but it gets the job done!

Feeling Sick? Catching a Cold? Well here comes the miracle soup! Follow this review for PRO advice. None of that n00b stuff other reviewers are posting. I've been here 10+ times to know how it goes down. NOW TO THE REVIEW. PRO TIP #1: - Get Kalguksu (Chicken noodle soup) [my go-to] or... - Get Samgyetang (Black garlic is the one I go with) [if you need the extra healing powers] If you took my pro tip advice, then you'll find yourself faced with a piping hot bowl of soup that--after you're done-- will leave you sweating and your cold gone. It's like the heat of the soup boils up the germies. The dishes are quite simple but very effective. PRO TIP #2: - The kimchi here is great. Goes very well with the kalguksu. Tastes "fresher" and not overly fermented or sour. - If you're getting the samgyetang, dip the chicken in salt/white pepper. Do it. DO EEET. If you followed pro tip #2, then your dining experience will be even better. The samgyetang is definitely flavorful enough but is also not too salty because it's supposed to be healthy. It's like giving kids "healthy multigrain cereal" and covering it in sugar cubes, drizzling in hydrogenated oils, and topping it with ice cream. Kindaaa defeats the point. PRO TIP #3: - Don't bother with other stuff on the menu. Some of the bad reviews here are based on the foods that this place isn't really specialized in. Someone mentioned that it's a fast food joint? Uh... no. It's not. It's piping hot food that you should be there to truly enjoy. Clay pots and hot soup -- think, think! Seriously, does it look like you're looking up from a counter ordering food? I'm blown away.. almost like some people don't even eat at these places before reviewing.

I was always bummed that I could never find a Korean restaurant with samgyetang UNTIL MY FRIEND RECOMMENED THIS PLACE TO ME. HALLELUJAH SWEET STUFFED CHICKEN GOODNESS hidden away in a plaza, it's rightful praise taken by 99 chicken (since it's really close by), is the treasure trove of gluttonous rice, chestnuts, jjb, ginseng, and garlic shoved into the dead carcass of a tiny little chicken. I know this isn't a very appetizing way to describe food, but i see food the way i do so... the soup is PERFECTLY seasoned, but unless you like your food on the saltier side they provide a little pot of sea salt to modify the flavor of your soup. they also provide an great portion of chopped green onions. the chicken is moist and slips right off the bones! the server I had monday was the sweetest little thing; immediately she was very attentive and asked what we would like to start off with for drinks (soft drinks, ice water or hot tea), and was always sure to ask us how we liked the food although the place was poppin. i would give them a bonus star for their kimchi alone; i rarely say i like kimchi and if i do, it's because it reminds me of my dad's BUT THEIRS IS BETTER????? thoroughly enjoyed eating here, would definitely come again.. oh, and i know price may seem intimidating but with GR9 samgyetang, this is totally worth it.

So let's just say this was an end to our KFC (Korean Fried Chicken Fail). We started our night expecting Bon Chon Chicken.... SAD FACE they are closed on Tuesdays. Second choice 99 chicken.... even sadder face... closed for kitchen renovations.... Hey! what's this? BN Chicken, sign reads "YUMMY KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN" Okay why not since our night was dedicated to KFC... Short menu.... chicken options Chicken wings or chicken Katsu both $10.99. Look on yelp Black Garlic is good. no pictures but okay it's a side dish for $5. Ordered one of each chicken katsu and chicken wings. Tried to order black garlic but apparently that's a special or something that they didn't have? Also ordered "noodle" The side order of noodles was a bowl of udon in oil? It was bland but I guess if we're eating so much fried stuff. Probably would've been better off with a bowl of rice. Chicken Katsu was okay. The sauce was saltier than normal. I wasn't really in the mood for katsu since that's not really KFC. The chicken wings were okay.... nothing special about them and didn't have all the flavorings of korean style chicken both the wet and the dry ones. The wings just tasted like normal deep fried chicken wings. Both came with a side of cabbage in some sort of dressing that was good. That deserved a star, but other than that maybe our hopes were too high but I would not recommend this place for chicken. I guess the place doesn't have central AC either... and with the heat from frying things up in the back they had a bunch of standing fans pointing right at the tables.... PLUS the bathroom was clean. All in all... our night was a disappointment. I probably won't be coming back.

Y'all are tripping complaining that they don't have a variety of banchan and that their fried chicken didn't amaze you. HELLO, this is a specialty traditional, Korean chicken soup and noodles restaurant. You don't walk into KFC complaining that their biscuit was gross, go to a damn bakery. Jeez. Anyway, I love, love the chicken soup - the meat is tender and the soup will heal your stuffed up, sniffly face if you have a cold. Coming from an authentic Korean, this place is legit if you want a legit experience. If you want a fried chicken experience go somewhere else.

I've been looking around the Bay Area for good kalguksu, so I ordered the chicken recommended by the waitress. Unfortunately, I'm currently sick and couldn't really taste too much of the chicken broth. However, the noodles were extremely smooth and reminded me of what I had when I was in Korea, and the dish itself was what I needed after a strenuous workout on a rainy day. I'll definitely need to come back when I can actually taste to try the seafood kalguksu and the samgyetang. Despite some average reviews of this place, I personally enjoyed the food, the service, and will be back.

1, service is bad: we were standing there and the waitress was keep doing something else (not serving other customers); and I said hello, we have four persons, she said ok, we were still hang in there. We didn't get seated until I asked her how long we still have to stand here. 2, food are not excellent or surprised me. I would say, nothing worth to try again. 3, environment is bad, not expected to sit in a fast food shop. That is it for my experience.

Came here for a late dinner with my friends who were craving ginseng soup. We had such a hearty meal and we enjoyed it tremendously. Original samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) - Gosh, this is so good! The broth has a very strong ginseng flavor and the chicken was soft and tender. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I see myself coming back again for the other flavors! Spicy Chicken Stew - this dish is for 2 people (but I think it can feed 3-4). It takes about 30minutes to cook, but it is well worth it! The soup is served in a large pot and they will set up an electric heater so you can keep the stew warm. It was not too spicy, and the broth was tasty. Definitely come with a couple of people so you can order this and share! I was here on a Monday night around 830pm and the restaurant was pretty empty despite being pretty small. The menu is pretty limited, but I still wish we had more people so we can try the other dishes, such as the noodles. The side dish selection was rather disappointing :( Definitely mediocre/ below average. Overall, it was a yummy dinner. Enjoyed it tremendously and highly recommended! Thank you Yelp for the wonderful recommendation.

Korean food is more than BBQ or bibimbap or something spicy. This summer, I discovered samgyetang, a rice stuffed young chicken soup. And the four stars is for BN's samgyetang. The restaurant is small and the menu is even smaller. I think there were three dishes: variations of samgyetang, chicken noodle soup, and something like katsu. The samgyetang here is delightful, rich chicken broth flavored distinctly with ginseng and black garlic. This will be a perfect dish for a cold day or if you need something warm and comforting. The chicken noodle was fine and I'd pass on the katsu. The katsu was dry and boring. Before you go, they are on the pricey side. Also, you get only 3 side dishes, spicy red kimchi, fresh, white kimchi and radish kimchi. You don't get all the other sides that you would normally get at typical Korean restaurants. Also, the food tends to be on the less salty side so I suggest you ask for some salt on the side to add to your broth.

Best samgyetang I've ever had. I didnt have the black garlic but had the red ginseng which was so yummmy. My bf, a picky eater, even complimented it :). It's a bit bitter due to the taste of ginseng but it's worth it. I didnt try other dishes but if their specialty is samgyetang, I would not try others.

Samgyetang!! I like my herbal soups to be POTENT but it's somewhat bland here. The herbal ginseng flavors were lacking. I was a little disappointed to find scarce stuffing in the chicken. The regular is $16 and is enough to serve two people. Also ordered the cold noodle and chicken noodle. Now both were seriously bland, especially the chicken noodle. It's not much different than pouring a boiling water over plain noodles. The cold noodle was huge though. They have odd hours and are closed on Sundays, so I'd make prior preparations before coming here.

  • Rongs L.

I tried the original samgyetang. The dish is huge! It came with a whole small chicken submerged in a large bowl of ginseng soup. There is sticky rice stuffed into the chicken and also various herbs such as ginseng roots, walnuts (or some variation of a walnut), sunflower seeds in the soup. I found the soup pretty bland and had to add salt to my soup for more taste. It also lacked the ginseng taste that I was expecting. The chicken is also pretty bland and dry. I was craving for some sauce to dip the chicken meat into. I also tried their fried chicken wings with salad. It came with 6 pieces of chicken. The fried chicken is ok and I would recommend going to a fried chicken specialty store for tastier fried chicken.

We tried going on a Sunday night but it was closed...so we tried again the next week on Saturday. Let's start with the pros: Super clean Great service, nice and prompt Complimentary radish, kimche I ordered the ginseng chicken. I was warned that it is an herbal soup, but I wasn't expecting it to be so herbally potent! Although the chicken fell off the bone, I did not enjoy the texture or the potent broth. The sticky glutenous rice that was stuffed inside the chicken made it bearable. Maybe this is an acquired taste...

BN Chicken lives up to its name, at least the Chinese version of it. It's highly specialized in making a Korean ginseng chicken stew that verges on the medicinal. If you're expecting a typical Korean tofu joint, like I did, then consider heading elsewhere. If you're looking to get that exact fix, then this is an amazing place. When I arrived around 7:30pm on a Saturday, I was surprised at how empty it was, only one other table was occupied. The menu was stunningly simple, just a few variations on the eponymous chicken stew, some noodle soups and fried chicken, which seemed quite out of place. We tried the Yelper recommended black garlic chicken stew and just for variety, the chicken noodle soup. There weren't the usual spread of little dishes to sample, just a trio of spicy cabbage and daikon and a pickled cabbage. They set the tone for the meal - light, simple, and good. The black garlic chicken stew came out as promised. It was a whole rice-stuffed chicken in a potent stew of garlic and ginseng, topped with a pile of unapologetically black garlic gloves. Styled like traditional Chinese herbal medicine, this stew really fortifies, almost as if you should come with a prescription in hand. The black garlic packed a punch. Good thing I love garlic. The chicken noodle stew almost seemed Japanese in its execution. Served in a large white bowl, the portion was rather modest, no more than a typical serving of Japanese udon, but the thin, handmade noodles were amazing. They were some of the best noodles I've ever had, balanced precariously between chewy and gelatinous. The broth they came in was a pristine white, unsullied by grease or dregs. The whole meal had a honest home-made feel. There was a real emphasis on quality, not flash. Salt was sparingly used. However, I came away thinking this would be a perfect place for a few specific situations: -bringing your grandparents for a light meal in peace and quiet -feeding a cold or whenever you feel under the weather -getting Korean food without needing to shower before heading out for the night We tabbed out at $45 with tax and tip, as we ordered a couple of extra bowls of rice to fill up. It's a bit on the steep side for Korean food, but considering the quality, it's a solid value. I may return if I ever find myself in one of the above situations.

It's really hard to find a place in this area that makes samgaetang but BN chicken had a good variety of types of samgaetang. I got the black garlic samgaetang and the broth definitely hit the spot. Their kimchi was good too and gave us a variety (regular, radish, and "water" kimchi). Overall I would come back if I have a craving for it again

I probably ordered the wrong thing here. I was in the mood for chicken wings, and saw that on the menu. But clearly, that's not their specialty item. Below-average service, average chicken wings, not particularly cheap. I would've been better off going to Hooter's. How many gay men would say that? Really?

Although BN Chicken is in the same plaza as 99 Chicken, the similarities end there. Not realizing that 99 Chicken is closed for lunch on Mondays, we decided to check out BN Chicken since we wouldn't have to go too far. We got one of the last tables that day (it was around noon, but on Labor Day), and the restaurant was pretty busy. We ordered: -Cold Noodle (Hand Style Noodle Soup, $10.99, yelp.com/biz_photos/bn-c… ): Not my favorite. I liked the texture of the thin noodles, but nothing else about the dish. I didn't like the "broth" or the ingredients. Skip! -Chicken Katsu w/Salad ($10.99, yelp.com/biz_photos/bn-c… ): Dry. I didn't like this dish at all, and the "salad" was just a pile of shredded cabbage with some sauce on top, which also wasn't good. Skip. -Ban Chan ( yelp.com/biz_photos/bn-c… ): The only dish I really recognized was the kim chee, which was surprisingly good and had the perfect amount of spice. The pickled daikon pieces were too large, and I had no idea what the pickled cabbage dish was, but I didn't like it. -Wings w/Salad ($10.99, yelp.com/biz_photos/bn-c… ): The wings were my favorite dish, but that isn't saying too much. They were actually super crispy/crunchy on the outside and juicy/tender inside, but there wasn't enough flavor for the wings. I've had better fried chicken elsewhere and wouldn't order this again. The servers were overstretched, and it took them a couple minutes to get us our menus after we sat down. I had to flag down the server to place our order, to ask for more table settings, to ask for bowls, to ask for chopsticks, etc, etc, etc. It was frustrating to have to continually ask for flatware and cutlery, and that along with the mediocre food are the reasons why I won't be back. I would only recommend coming here if you enjoy the samyetang (ginseng chicken soups) or traditional stews/noodle soups since that's the majority of the menu. Parking was ok during the time we came, but the lot on this side is smaller so you may have to circle a couple of times to find something.

The menu here is small, and quite frankly, unimpressive. The Korean Fried Chicken Wings were good, but given all the other amazing Korean restaurants within walking distance, good just doesn't cut it.

They have the best Korean chicken soup in the South Bay.

Chicken soup is the best remedy for colds. There just aren't anything quite as comforting when you are feeling down. Not to mention hot soup really does clear up your congestion. Even if you are perfectly healthy, a nice bowl of chicken soup is still irresistible during chilly winter. Not to be confused with Bonchon chicken, this is not just another KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) place. BN Chicken specializes in one thing, the Samgyetang (Ginseng Chicken Soup), a traditional dish known for its health benefits to rejuvenate and nourish your body. The menu here is simple. There are really only 4 things to choose from - the ginseng chicken soup, hand made noodle, a spicy chicken stew (serves 2) or the fried chicken. Their ginseng chicken soup beats all other ones I have tried in the bay area. It was very soothing and quite delicious. Perhaps a little too delicious. I am used to Samgyetang having more prominent herbal medicine bitterness. Not quite the case here. The soup went down easily and the chicken was very flavorful. You will get a whole cornish hen in your pot of soup. It was small but more than enough to feed one very hungry individual. The basic chicken soup came with ginseng, red dates, chestnut and zinko. The chicken was stuffed with sweet rice. You can also opt for extra ingredients such as perilla seed, black garlic or red ginseng. Keep in mind these are more for the health benefits than for the taste. If you are here just to get a good bowl of chicken soup, the original version should keep you happy enough. The hand-made noodle was simple but good. I tried the seafood version and I was delighted to find a generous amount of toppings including clams, crabs meat, shrimps and squids. Restaurant was quite quiet on a Friday night. I think BN chicken is not getting the attention it deserves. I will choose this over tofu soup or BBQ any day.

A little hidden gem :) ... very small place, but serves excellent Samgyetang (Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup). We came here exclusively for the Samgyetang. Menu was very small with 1 page of items. There was 4 kinds of ginseng soup. BF ordered "Black Garlic" ... and I want to order something I haven't tired, so end up with "Perilla Seeds". Not knowing exactly what Perilla Seeds are, the waitress told me its like sesame. We were served with 3 banchans: Kimchi - excellent, very flavorful Radish - love it too Nabak kimchi (not sure if that's the right name) - ok for me Our soup was served pipping hot! And we love it that way. Chicken was very tender, sticky rice was well cooked. The Perilla Seeds has a indescribable taste, its not bad though. It made my soup a little too thick to my liking. BF's Black Garlic was excellent ... I ate a black garlic, its very good , not overpowering. Just 2 soups made us really full. Overall, It was a great meal. The only thing missing was ... the Ginseng wine ... that would make me super duper happy.

This place is delicious! That Spicy chicken stew was amazing, so much flavor in the soup. On the menu the spicy chicken stew says it feeds 2 people, it definitely feeds 3-4 people easily. I also ordered the chicken Katsu. The Katsu was really good, fried nice and cripsy, and the chicken was so tender. I would not recommend this place for the summer definitely go here over the winter. Everything they sell here is chicken and stew or ginseng stew. I have yet to try the ginseng chicken stews yet, I will definitely come back to try it next.

Went here with a few colleagues a week ago for lunch and I am now a fan of this place. I had the seafood noodle soup which was very good. All the fish tasted fresh and the broth was delicious. My buddies all got the chicken soup and all of the said it was great. The place is very clean and the waitress was sweet. I want to go back and try more of the items, but the menu is pretty small. I think I need to go with a Korean friend thought to get the inside scoop.

After all this time running up and down the Korean Camino, I end up in a place I never even knew existed, right smack dab in the middle of Korean Camino even. Leave it to my mom to find these new places. Came on a busy Friday night with the wifey, mom, and little sister. Small place with less than 10 tables, there seemed to be people waiting all night. Good thing we got in early. Samgyetang is one of my favorite korean dishes and its difficult to find a place that does it well. This place certainly does this Ginseng chicken soup very well. The chicken is tender with a decent amount of rice and ginseng inside the chicken. The broth has that tangy ginseng taste that just runs up your nasal passages so well. It seems to clear my head right up! The mom and little sister shared a dakdoritang (spicy chicken stew). It was definitely not on par with the samgyetang. I do have to say my wife makes a much better dakdoritang at home.... hmmm, do I hear new restaurant? nawww, I could never go over to the dark side! Lastly but not least, the rice that we were given to eat with the dakdoritang was well below par. Being a lifelong daily rice eater, I know a good rice kernal when i see one. These bowls of rice they gave us seemed to be a mixture of some healthy grain rice and standard short grain white rice, but the short grain was obviously a cheap brand. Very disappointing for a Korean restaurant. Shame on you!! And the prices... for the amount of food that they give you, its worth the price. IMHO. The rice issue is enough to drop this place a full star, almost down to 3 stars. But with my favorite dish being a superstar here, I must spread the news and what better way than with 4 stars.

Selections in the menu aren't as wide as I would have hoped. Fried chicken isn't as bready as I remember but I find it's hard to find a true copy of the Korean fried chicken in this neighborhood. Customer service is good.

Just got home from B.N Chicken and the verdict is garbage!!! Please take down that sign you have saying serving delicious fried chicken. Ordered 7 pieces for $11really?? Chicken had no taste asked for hot sauce and he looked at me like I was ghetto then a mofo. Also ordered the genseng chicken soup. $16 not worth a bland broth where is the taste. Had to through a pinch of salt to check to see my taste buds where working. Totally disappointed with the food and price come on only two $$ yelp get your shit right. As far as service I wouldn't even given you guys that star that I had to put. So yeah by default you guys get that one star. Out of all the korean restrounts on el camino I will not be coming back here

Spicy chicken stew was hearty and delicious --- menu says its for 2 people but it can easily feed 3 or 4 Skip the chicken wings, the price wasn't worth the taste (much better wings in the area, like 99 chicken or bonchon)

You cured me, BN Chicken. You made me alive once again. So many times we've mistaken you for Bonchon, and every time we made that mistake, I've wanted to come in and try some of that soup... but we always ended up going to 99 Chicken instead because we were craving fried food. But this time, using my sickness as an excuse, I forced James to come to BN Chicken so I could try the ginseng chicken soup. I was so excited (even though deathly ill) to be trying this! Oh, and it broke my pescatarian spell... I was told that I must have chicken soup in order to recover. When we first sat down, our waitress was very friendly and introduced us to different types of food they offer. Even though they have a small menu, they specialized in the chicken soup so it did not take very long for me to decide that I wanted the black garlic chicken ginseng soup. James stood by friend chicken so he ordered fried chicken wings, which came with a side of veggies, and then he ordered a side of steamed rice. We were served with two big pots of kimchi. One is with cabbage and I believe the other one was with daikon. They do not have the standard ban chan, but they still gave us some picked onions, fresh onions, garlic and jalapeno pepper slices for us to play with and dip in the soy bean paste that they provided. At last my soup came and I was so excited! The broth was a little thicker than I expected, and I did not see all the floating herbs as indicated on the picture (but it might be due to my black garlic order instead of the original chicken soup?). But the aroma of the chicken and the garlic just hypnotized me. The herbs, turned out, were stuffed inside the chicken along with sticky rice. I accidentally bit into the black garlic and thought it tasted bitter, but it added a lot of flavor to the soup, so watch out for the black garlic! Other than that, the soup was so good, the chicken was so tender it melt off the bones, and you could possibly eat the bones because they've been cooked for a long time and they were quite soft! The flavor was amazing, I felt instantly revitalized by the hot chicken soup. It was soothing and delicious and went down very smooth, not like traditional Chinese medicine soups. I wish I knew how to make it at home, and I'd make it every day and swear that I'd never be a vegetarian! James said the chicken was juicy and tender, not dried like some of the reviews said. I think it just depends on good days and bad days, maybe we just had a good fried chicken day! The service here was friendly, and warm, just like their soup. Our waitress was very nice and asked us how did we hear about this place, Yelp, of course!

I enjoy the food at Bon Chon Chicken and 99 Chicken, so when I happened to see the sign for B N Chicken driving down El Camino, I turned in to grab some lunch. Bad idea. With a name like B N Chicken, I'd expect the place to have a variety of chicken choices, or at least specialize in making some great chicken, right? Nope. The chicken had no flavor. It didn't seem marinated, seasoned, or anything. It wasn't busy, and yet the service was poor also.

The Samgyetang was DELICIOUS. I am a huge fan of hearty soups and this Korean version of chicken noodle soup with ginseng was perfect on a cold night. The broth comes with a small whole chicken slow cooked so the meat is falling off the bone, stuffed with gelatinous rice. Super interesting and very tasty. You have to be careful to pick out the small bones though. We also got seafood noodles which actually had legit seafood in it - crab legs, abalone, oysters, etc. I liked the samgyetang much better though. Definitely a simple place whose focus is on the food.

Black n white decor, small curtain btw tables to avoid eye contact to other customer n create privacy. Clean place so does the toilet. Open kitchen but no awful smell residue on my clothes. Small restaurant but cozy family run business, service is good as well. Ginseng chicken soup taste good too. $20 per person expense

Dishonest owner. We ordered the spicy chicken stew that was priced at 21.99 on the menu. When the bill came it showed 31.99+tax. When we challenged, they said it was their mistake on the menu and that it should be 31.99. Ok so we customer have to pay the price for their dishonest mistake. Food quality wise? the sort you can expect from a dishonest chef. Would not recommend and will not return. Pity the waiter was a star. He did help to checked with his boss. We did not want to make a scene due to the nice waiter but they definite lost their customer. Anyhow, ask the price before you order and don't be surprise when you got BNed (conned)!

Came here with the gf on Wednesday evening. We ordered two chicken ginseng soups since it's highly recommended on yelp for colds and the gf felt like she was coming down with one. Waitress explained to us that 1 serving is not enough for 2 people, and we reminded her that that's why we ordered two soups. What we got after 10-15 mins of waiting was one bowl of soup. Since this was my first time here, I assumed that they combined the portions for two servings into one bowl and served it to us. It's not until we got the check at the end of the meal that I realized that even though we had clarified we're ordering two bowls, it didn't get through to the waitress. The ginseng taste in the broth was very subtle and hardly noticeable, but maybe our taste buds are just used to bolder and richer flavors. Not taking any stars off for that, but what was a big no-no was the amount of blood and redness in the meat (I've uploaded a picture to show this). Even though the meat was tender and falling off the bone, it was disgustingly red. The only explanation for why the meat was tender on the outside, but red and bloody on the inside is that they use frozen chicken for this dish and don't defrost it enough before cooking it. Huge health hazard. Is this the norm for this place (and gets overlooked by other yelpers) or were they just having an off night? I'm curious to hear from other patrons that have reviewed it so highly. I would like to give this place another chance, but I'm afraid I'll get the same type of bloody chicken again. -1 star for messing up the order. -3 stars for the bloody chicken as this is a serious health hazard.

The Ginseng chicken stew is great, although I'd prefer a little more sticky rice. The stew is delicious and hits the spot. Ordered the handmade seafood noodle which is also delicious. I didn't feel thirsty or anything after eating all the noodles and soup, which is quite rare when eating out. Give this place a try if you crave for a good ginseng chicken stew.

Second time here, and enjoyed it just as much as the first. This time we had the ginseng chicken (had this last time to) and fried chicken. I came here for hearty food/comfort food.. as my fiance was sick... I wanted him to eat something that was healthy.. and chicken soup is always good right? And the last time we were here.. we were debating whether this would be good food to eat when we're sick! I'm not sure if it helped... (I made porridge for him earlier and he was already feeling a little better).. but it was definitly pretty good. The hen was tender, and inside the hen, was rice (although we should have ordered a side of rice... cuz there's definitely not enough for two). In terms of the fried chicken wings.. I thought it was a little weird.. they had some normal sized ones.. and some huge ones.. I personally liked the regular sized one... I thought they were tastier... the fat ones... I thought were a little fatty... but yeah... overall they were not bad. This is definitely a place I'd come to again... or a place I'd bring someone who wasn't feeling well.

  • Dalu Q.

Personally, I like my chicken soup to be more simple and clear, but given that it's ginseng chicken, I cannot complain. I thought the fried chicken was superb. They did the frying very well, it was crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside, and not oily at all. On the note... I wish they had marinated it a bit more. A little more salt on the inside would just be perfect. A sprinkle of white pepper would be a nice addition as well. This is just my personal opinion. I thought the fried chicken here was better than Bon Chon's btw.

YUMMY HEALTHIER alternative to the Korean BBQ scene.... They specialize in chicken soups...boil a small chicken with all their flavoring goodies, and eat up! Love all the side dishes that come with the order too. Great for a cold/rainy day.

I'm not going to lie. I've avoided this place because it was said to be healthy. But after finally trying it, I had a pretty good experience. I got the Chicken Noodle Soup which was nice and hearty with a good balance of savoriness. The noodles were gummy though, but the taste was on point. It was FREEZING outside, so hot soup was ideal for warming my bones. I also tried some of that Samgyetang which was alright, but I'm not really of fan of that in general so it's harder for me to give a good gauge on that item. But if I ever feel in the mood for some noodle soup that isn't pho, BN Chicken is now an option on my list.

Samgyetang (Korean whole chicken broth soup) was tiny and mediocre. - Broth was bland, regardless of salt/sauce additions. - Little value for the price. Expect to pay $45+ to fill two people up for dinner. The waitresses will let 2 people share, but with a few cold stares here and there. - The soup was ready in 10 minutes, which is much faster than I am used to. Not necessarily a good thing. + Kimchi was good overall, one overripe, one nearly raw. Can't help but compare the quality, service and price to Mountain Cafe in L.A. Koreatown. Try it, when you get a chance. You won't regret it!

Was feeling under the weather and though I've sworn off most meat (except fish), samgye tang just sounded perfect. My late childhood friend's mother would make it for us when we were feeling ill and it'd been a long time, so I thought I'd search for a place near home to try. Not only was I not disappointed, I was so incredibly happy with the taste and quality of the soup that I plan on returning again to try their other types (perilla seed, black garlic, and red ginseng). The flavor was slightly different than I remembered. It was less medicinal as my friend's mom would add a lot more garlic and ginseng. Inside the stuffed hen was the traditional sticky, sweet rice, along with pine nuts, a whole clove of garlic, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds. At the bottom of the soup was the stalk of ginseng and a soft chestnut. I did not feel the need to add salt to the soup, but as I removed bits of the chicken, I added just a bit of salt and white pepper to the meat. Kimchi, kaktugi (kimchi pickled radish), and white kimchi radish were served along with the meal. It takes an average of three hours to cook each order. That's something I don't have the patience or time to do and am grateful to be able to find a place that makes such a wonderful dish.

This place deserve 3.5 stars. For as long as I can remembered, I've wanted to try ginseng chicken. Finally I found a restaurant that specializes in it! (thanks yelp!) I satisfied my craving and it was delicious! BF and I came on a Tuesday night at 8pm and the place was dead. The waitress was very attentive and seated us immediately. She spoke broken English so she wasn't able to answer my questions regarding the menu. Nonetheless, we figured out what we wanted and ordered Dak kalguku and Hukmanul. While waiting for our food to arrive, our waitress brought us 2 jars of kimchee. One was regular cabbage the other was radish. Their kimchee was very flavorful. The only downside is that we were not provided with any other banchan items. Hukmanul: The chicken was very tender and the broth was flavorful. When we asked for more sliced garlic, our waitress gladly brought us more. Dak Kalguku: the noodles were hand-made and had a great texture. The broth was a bit on the peppery side. The aftertaste of the pepper def gave my mouth a kick! I can't wait to come back and try their "hangover spicy chicken stew."

Me and a coworker were craving some Chicken on a gloomy Monday morning, so we thought we'd check out 99 Chicken but turned out they are CLOSED ON MONDAYS UNTIL 6PM? WHAT THE CRAZY? So, we wandered aimlessly around to find some chicken and ended up here at Beng Nyun Son Nim because they had a poster that said they had BOMB Chicken (or something like that). As soon as you walk in, you can tell that this place is straight-up Korean...from the style and decor to all the Koreans eating lunch..LEGIT. We were promptly seated and told that the menus were located right beneath the table glass. At first...we were a bit bewildered because the menu consisted of only about 10 items, but we were told that that IS the MENU. Strange...but we knew what we wanted and they had FRIED CHICKEN on the MENU...and that was WHAT WE GOT! Plus some Chicken noodles to share... The food arrived a bit late (note: there weren't too many people eating), but when it arrived, it tasted all the better. The Seafood Chicken Noodles came out in a huge bowl, big enough for us to share (we didn't even finish it). Next came the golden and crisp fried chicken, served with ranch dressing and a side salad. And might I say...the Fried Chicken was pretty damn good. Definitely not the best I've ever had but pretty good. Total price of meal: ~25 (including tax and tip). Not too bad. But I do hope that they include more items on their menu, as that will attract more customers.

A friend took me here. It looked a hole in the wall in the middle of holes in the wall (you know what i mean if you know that area). The food here was quite good though, and quite tasty, and quite healthy. The specialty is a chicken soup...with an entire chicken basting in a delicious broth. The chicken just falls apart at the touch and one bowl can probably feed 1.5 to 2 people, or two small people, or one bigger person, or whatever. The chicken was pre-stuffed with a rice based stuffing and once you get everything mixed together, it's just a great dish! Forgive me for not explaining this place well and doing it justice, but I will be back there sooner than later and hopefully putting this place on the map will bring it some business. Happy Eating!

Ordered the Dakdoritang (Chicken stew) and it came in a giant pot. Contents contains 3 chicken wing mid joint, 3 drumlettes, 3 pieces chicken thighs. The rest are veggies which consists of potato, mushroom, carrots, glass noodles, green onion, etc. I was weary of the extra spicy that usually comes with these kinds of dishes so we opted for VERY mild which came out pretty spicy still. It was close to my maximum spicy tolerance so I was okay with it. You get all these other things along with your order tho such as the kimchi and the daikon in these pots. Use the tong because these appear to be community kimchi/daikon pots so just take out what you want to eat and close the lid. Rice was very hot and I'm very happy with that. Overall, the soup was very tasty and offers a great alternative to your usual BBQ or tofu for Korean cuisines.

Had a cold and found this place on Yelp while searching for chicken soup. The soup turned out to be a whole small chicken simmered in a broth of green onions, ginseng and assorted subtle flavor unknown/unpronounceable herbs/spices. Soup was simple, but hearty and tasty although maybe not for someone who doesn't like dealing with bones (whole chicken remember?) Quick tip: On weekends, the small place fills up... so come early or late (after 1:30)PM. So you don't end up waiting 20 mins for a table like me.

Chicken soup normal + kimchi = bomb. For the people that love rice, I would ask for extra side rice since it doesn't it come with it. But I promise you won't miss it. The chicken is so good, it melts in your mouth .

I was feeling a little sick on the day I went here. I ordered the Chicken Kal Guk Su and I finished that thing in minutes. The soup itself was very good and it hits you right on the spot. They give you a good amount of chicken and it fills you up pretty good. They don't have a lot of side dishes but the chicken soups make up for it. It does cost about $14-$20 per person, but I think it's still worth it. I haven't tried the Fried chicken yet but from the looks of it, I would probably order it next time. They also got the OB Lager Wheat Beer, which I love. Definitely next time, I am gonna order fried chicken and OB beer. I don't really know any other Korean chicken soup places in the San Jose. But for now, this place will do =)

Newly opened next to Hana Maki specializes in chicken stew and soups. Dak Doritang (chicken stew with potatoes and vegetables) was spicy with excellent intensity. Everyone seemed to be ordering their Samgyetang which appeared thick and good. Also interesting on the menu : black garlic chicken soup (?). The menu also features Fried chicken (also looked delish) and noodle soup. Ban Chan (radish and cabbage) are served chilled in individual kimchi pots.
